Revamped Game Introduction Tutorial & Quests![]

The team has spent a lot of time reworking the very beginning of the game for new players. There you'll find new mission castles, new characters and more Opulencian shenanigans! Along with this, we have introduced a number of lower level Quests made specifically for new players. Fear not, however! Players of all level will have access to them. Even if they are likely too easy for mid-to-high level players we recommend spending some quality looting time here…. just maybe they'll contain a little hidden surprise... These new castles can also be found in the Competition zones.

We’ve revised the XP curve to time the amount of levels that a Hero will gain at the start of the game, for a better experience and while we were at it, we’ve revised the end of the curve so that you can now get to level 30 a little faster. You will notice that while you are still at the same level and relative position, it will now be easier/faster to reach the next level. Note that it also means that it should now be faster to level up that 2nd hero (and 3rd and 4th…) that you might want to start…

Revive Costs[]

We’ve revised the cost of Revive, to bring them more in line with the amount of Gold players should have. The new Revive costs, in gold, per levels are:

May[]

Patch May 27, 2015 Blog Post

  • 6 Materials removed

New Features:

Big Changes to the Materials
The changes to the Materials are finally here. What does it mean and how will it affect your game? Let us tell you…

3 of the Common Materials (Explodium, Eau de Trappe, Cursed Cog) have been removed and replaced by Smoldering Eye. All Creatures, Traps and Equipment which used those Materials in the Crafting Lab/Blacksmith now will use Smoldering Eyes instead.

3 of the Exceptional Materials (Essence of Awesomeness, Hard Shell and Limbo Dust) have also been removed. Essence of Awesomeness will be replaced by Sacred Branch, Hard Shell by Forgotten Stone and Limbo Dust by Long Horn.

The cost of the following Creatures will be affected:

The cost of the following Traps will be affected:

The Damage Rune (for the Totems) is also affected.

The cost of the following Items will be affected:

Since we will be exchanging the removed Materials for the new Materials, if you were saving up to craft one of the above mentioned items, you'll still be able to craft them, hopefully faster now.

Hey, who let all those Revenants in here?
This week, we decided to bring back the whole gang instead of a new creature. Yup, for one week only, every single Weekly Creature or Trap is back. So, what are you waiting for? Get crafting!

Loot Drop System
As mentioned in our article last week, we also modified the loot drop system so that the drops would be more consistent and give us more control. We will be balancing this in future packs.

  • Out of Mana feedback around screen has now been re-enabled

Patch May 21, 2015 Blog Post

  • Pathfinding restored
Pathfinding
  • Since too many side effects of the recent pathfinding modification are still happening, we're reverting it to its previous version. We're still working on it, but we'll do more back and forth with the community on a test server before putting it on the live version. Our goal is to reach the best control possible, and we'll keep putting efforts on that subject.

Improvements

  • Defense items being placed behind walls now have their footprint & outline visible through walls for easier building.
  • All other attackable elements (Mines, Barricades…) now have a red outline (and inner glow) when targeted to match the visual feedback of targeting creatures.

  • Material costs are a little cheaper... The overall cost of upgrading any item in Hard Shell has been slashed in half!
  • Fixed an issue were the Mage was able to use the Electric Charge when affected by Silence.

  • Large optimisations made on game engine side to improve performance in:
    • Castles with many creatures active at the same time.
    • Large castles with many gameplay elements triggering lots of FX.

Bug Fixes

  • Formalized flow in the settings to only show the keep settings for the video settings (resolution, window type and shaders)

This could lead to scenarios where the hero would move in different or even opposite directions to where the player clicked. Heroes will now walk straight towards the pointer and stop at the first wall collision. See diagram below.

Patch April 15, 2015 Blog Post

DESIGN[]

This week, we decided to buff the movement speed of some grunts and captains that were still a bit slow since the introduction of the Turbo mode. We also decided to remove Firesly from the roster since this creature was a bit outdated and sort of a duplicate of Flameo. All the Fireslys have been replaced by Flameos, please see details below. Mrs Goatfire has been buffed and we did a slight nerf to the movement speed and block buff duration of the Archer's Roll.

Creatures balancing[]

Creatures Movement Speed:

  • Derp: Raised speed from 2.5 to 3.5 to match other melee creatures.
  • Guardians / Pupeteers : Raised speed from 2.5 to 3.5 to allow escorting of the rest of the roster.
  • Bad Dog: Raised speed from 4 to 5 to reinforce the harasser aspect.
  • Spiders: Raised speed from 3.5 to 5 to reinforce the harass hit and run aspect.
  • Smelly Warrior - Personal Bubble: Raise speed from 4 to 4.5 to increase the pressure on range characters.

Firesly:

Firesly has been replaced by Flameo. The reason behind this change is we felt the creature is outdated, graphics wise and gameplay wise. Here is our replacement strategy:

  • If you had a Firesly, it will be replaced by a Flameo.
  • If you had a Flameo, nothing changes.
  • If you had a Firesly, and a Flameo, you'll only keep the Flameo since Firesly is no longer present in the creature roster.

Mrs. Goatfire:

  • Now shoots 2 missiles back-to-back.
  • Cooldown reduced from 3 to 2 sec.

Heroes balancing[]

Archer[]

We've reduced the duration of the dodge and speed buff granted after the skill is executed and raised the skill's travel distance from 5m to 6m. We've also improved the acceleration factor when activating the skill.

  • Tier 1: Buff duration reduced from 2 sec to 0.5 sec. Distance raised from 5m to 6m.
  • Tier 2: Buff duration reduced from 2 sec to 0.75 sec. Distance raised from 5m to 6m.
  • Tier 3: Buff duration reduced from 2.5 sec to 1 sec. Distance raised from 5m to 6m.

Inventory Tabs

With the availability of two new inventory tabs, we promised the Infinite Pack holders would receive both tabs, free of cost. Both inventory tabs have been activated to all players whom purchased the Infinite Pack prior the release of the patch on April 2nd.

Balancing[]

This week we did some fine tuning on some elements. We are currently focusing on creatures’ reactivity and behavior. We are also starting to have another look at heroes’ weapon, starting with the repeater. More balance will be done throughout the next updates, in order to have more valid weapon choices.

Hero balancing[]

The repeater being the less used weapon for Archers, we decided to give it a little buff to make it a more viable choice

Archer Repeater: Mana regeneration increased from 1 to 2 mana per hit. Damage increased by 10%.

Creatures balancing[]

This week, Elite Cyclops have a little love. We noticed the Slim Scott's Ground Pound skill hitbox was smaller than intended. We also gave a little buff to Polyfemur's Dash skill.

Also, we had a look at our Elite Smelly Archers; we modified Billy the Trapper's Trap skill. This skill used to be quite unfair for melee characters since the creature was able to cast the skill at a really close range. The side effect resulted in melee heroes always taking all 3 traps damage without warning when fighting in close quarters.

  • Billy the Trapper: Can't place Bear Traps when Hero is close quarters (under 2M distance)
  • Polyfemur: Speed increased from 10 to 12. Maximum Charge Distance increased from 10M to 12M.
  • Slim Scott: AoE hitbox corrected. Damage increased by 10%.
  • Goatmen and Smelly Archers Damage issues are now fixed.
  • Bolas-Strike Goatman: missile collision increased to better match the visual. Missile should be harder to avoid now.

Improvements[]

  • Various UI updates to reduce the overlap of the trophy panel.
  • Trophy icons have received minor updates.
  • Sounds have been added upon collecting the rewards after a league update.
  • The chat has received a major overhaul
    • A timer will display the last received message.
    • The chat icon has been moved at the bottom of the chat window.
    • The scrollbar has been moved to the left side of the chat window.
    • The dropdown button has been removed.
    • The technology has been replaced. The chat should feel much more responsive.
Patch 20150409 Chat

Bug Fixes[]

  • Resolved an issue where castles in the friendzone did not properly display when Blings were used to request a validation.
  • Resolved an issue where the wrong message was used upon dying in Ubisoft castles.
  • Resolved an issue where the client crashed after pressing ALT + F4 with a tooltip open.
  • Resolved an issue where the Knight could be unresponsive when holding the key of Dragon Slash while being out of mana.

Note: Due to the functionality of the replays, all replays prior this update have become invalid.

March[]

Patch March 19, 2015 Blog Post

  • Captain Clubbage revamp

Balancing Changes[]

The goal this week is to continue buffing up the defence. This time it's the Captain's turn; we'll address the Grunts next week. The totems have had their HP increased as an attempt to create more scenarios than simply going in and destroy them. The good ol' Captain Clubbage received major love.

Captain Clubbage revamp
Be warned! Clubbage is probably in your back ready to pounce. His new tool kit will keep his foes on their toes.

He can knockback, pull, teleport and call his friends, the PolterTykes, that exhibit the same behaviour.

Captains improvements
This is the continuation of the defense balance overhaul. We raised every Captains HP between 20% to 70%. The damage of a select few (list below) was increased between 10% to 25%. The goal is to bring back to appeal of smaller creatures of which they lost since the introduction of the Turbo mode. The longevity of fight will increase, meaning the attacker will have to fight more strategically in order to defeat the defender.

Creatures with damage improvement:

Please be aware this is a work in progress and further tweaks will be required. Data and feedback will be gathered to improve our balance decisions for the next phase.

Totems HP increase
The HP of the totems was increase by 66%. Like the many other defense elements, the totems were not fully adapted to the Turbo mode. We believe the increase of HP will slow down the ability to destroy them and create new scenarios for the attacker and defender alike.

Improvements[]

  • Scrolling is now able to keep its position. It will no longer go back to the top automatically after interacting with the content. However, if the last line in the view becomes empty, the scroll bar will more up once.
  • A Mighty Quest account will be created and linked to the Steam account if a purchase is made on the Steam Market without having a Mighty Quest account prior to the purchase.
  • On buying items from Cornelius' Emporium we've added some basic highlighting for feedback when purchases are made.

  • Resolved an issue where adding inventory page could bypass the purchase requirement.
  • Resolved an issue where it was possible to lose crowns without triggering the castle timer.
  • Resolved an issue where it was possible for the league rewards pop-up to appear behind the defense toolbar.

Patch March 4, 2015 Blog Post

  • Trophies Introduced

Trophies!!!

Yup, we got trophies. For what you ask? Well, we figured that while the different leagues gave some rewards every day, it might be nice to have a more lasting symbol of your dominance over the other Opulancians and thus, trophies are born!

They are given once a week, on Tuesdays to be precise, right before the daily rankings are closed. At that time you will be awarded a trophy that you can place in your castle (a decoration, really) that will reflect the division you were in at that point.

The first 3 ranked players in each division will get a Gold, Silver or Bronze version of the trophy to place in their castle. Be warned however, you must collect the trophies every week, else they will simply be put in the lost and found and you'll miss your bragging opportunity!

Patch 20150304 Trophies

Sicks’ days are running out - Phase Two[]

That’s right; the days of Sick Creatures/Traps are almost over. These weak creatures (and traps) that are littering the beautiful land of Opulencia are expiring.

  • Gelatinous Wall : Duration reduced from 10 sec to 8 sec.
  • Slow Torch : Damage reduced by 21%.

  • Resolved an issue where the Inventory is Full warning could not be triggered after changing game state while the warning is on display.

  • Resolved an issue where it was possible to link creatures to a totem then move such totem while keeping the creatures linked to it.

Note: Due to the functionality of the replays, all replays prior this update have become invalid.

February[]

Patch February 4, 2015 Blog Post

  • Official "Release"

Official Launch![]

Well, it’s been a long time coming. The Mighty Quest for Epic Loot has gone through many major changes over the course of the beta period and your help has been instrumental. Today, we end our open beta and officially launch The Mighty Quest For Epic Loot.

New Features[]

Loot-O-Meter With the Loot-O-Meter (available in every good Castle Attack pop-up menu), you will be able to take advantage of friendly castles that have, out of the goodness of their heart, placed lots and lots of Rare Creatures or Traps. The more Rare creatures/traps, the higher the Loot-O-Meter will be and thus the better the loot in that castle will be. It works in a similar way as the Magical Find magical property in that it increases the likelihood of finding Magical/Exceptional/Legendary or Epic loot.

Creature boosts timer

Boosted creatures now display their status over their heads.
It will be possible to remove the icon by clicking it.

Content[]

Icy Pops intro & Durrr revamp:

Icy Pops isn't here to complain about his sciatica and yell at the orderlies. No, he's going to give you whippersnappers an old-timey, cold whuppin' and collect his pension check on Thursday, like always.

Remember, Icy Pops’ iceberg will be floating by for this week only! Those of you (including Infinite Pack owners) who want to take advantage of this rare item should grab it now.

For this pack we've decided to revamp Durrrr , and introduced his cooler version, Icy Pops.
It's still a two phases fight but you'll discover new skills and patterns.
   Phase 1 skills :
       Regular Melee attack
       Knockback Melee attack
       3 Missiles Shockwave.
   Phase 2 skills :
       6 Missiles Shockwave.
       Rock / Snowball shower.
       Healing potion.

Rare Creature[]

The Hot Roller is gone. This week, a trap beloved of all returns. The Acid Cannon is back!

Limited quantities (2) available to craft.

Heroes[]

With the introduction of the launch of The Mighty Quest For Epic Loot, the Mage will no longer be free at the hero selection.

The Knight is free this week!

This week, the Knight is available for free from Thursday 12h00pm until the beginning of next week. The same conditions as usual apply to get a discount on its cost in Blings:

Reach level 5: 50 Blings discount
Reach level 10: 150 Blings discount
Reach level 12: 350 Blings discount
Reach level 15: 650 Blings discount

If you wish to try the Mage, he will replace the Knight next week!

Improvements[]

New Player Experience[]

We've done a bunch of changes to the New Player Experience (the tutorials) which should not affect the vast majority of the current players. Basically, if you've been challenged (Hero level 4 or more) by Snottingham, don't worry, nothing has changed for you. However, if you placed your first gold mine but hadn't been challenged yet, you will have to redo the tutorial. We apologize, however, we believe the new experience will be more enjoyable and should help you understand mechanics better. The main reason for this re-work is to help with the flow of information and highlight some features that might have been not clear enough in the past. We really wanted to improve the first contact new players had with the game and we strongly believe we created a more enjoyable experience than before.

Infinite Pack[]

We improved the Infinite Pack based on the community's feedback!

Derplicator x1 at level 26 Burn'N Hell-O x1 at level 18, x1 at level 22 Clustercluck x1 at level 16, x1 at level 20

January[]

Patch January 9, 2015 Blog Post

Hello Opulencians,

This week's patch brings improvements and fixes to the game. Check out the detailed list below:

New Feature:

The new Items 2.0 is in along with a big pass of rebalancing. For our curious players, a Google Doc (English only) is available explaining all details you need to know.

Try out the latest update! We will be awaiting your feedback in the comments down below or on our forums. An article will be published next week with further explanations and answers to your questions!

Improvements
  • Holiday spirit has faded away. All decorations have been stored.
  • New sounds have been added when interacting with materials.
  • Crown System: We've removed the level handicap from the Crown system as it caused an exploit which went against the basic intention of the system (rank the players in both attack/defense). Starting with this pack, only the difference in Crowns will be used to calculate how many Crowns will be gained/lost after an attack. Thus, at equal quantity of Crowns, an attacker will win/lose 20 Crowns. If the difference is over 400 Crowns in the attacker's advantage (ie, attacker has 500 and the castle has 100), the attacker will stand to lose 40 Crowns if they fail or gain 0 Crown if they win. If the situation is reversed (castle has 500, attacker 100), the attacker will gain 40 Crowns should they win and lose none if they fail.
  • We have removed the automatic regeneration. Now, some equipment have the power to regenerate the hero.

Bug Fix:
  • Resolved an issue where it was possible to enter a treasure room without defeating Dragonificus.
  • Resolved an issue where the Material-O-Matic could not be upgraded to the next cycle.
  • All versions of the guardian, including the elite version, will properly regenerate their health upon leaving a totem zone.

That’s it for today.

Stay tuned for more news and keep on looting!

  • Resolved an issue where the button "collect" remained available after collecting the 10 free materials upon placing the mine.
  • Resolved an issue where the timer was not properly displayed in the French and German version.
  • Resolved an issue where rewards at the end of an attack were not correctly granted (Crowns, Currency, Loot).

Patch 20141210 Sadistic Cannon Deactivated State

  • Walls will now disappear sooner while attacking castles, so should improve attack visibility.
Patch 20141210 Fading Walls

  • Dying with the finger pressed on the potion key didn't lead to very positive feeling… We even saw some keyboard mistreatments resulting from such a situation. So, we're introducing: The bleeding feature!
    • When taking damage, the amount of HP impacted is instantly highlighted white in the HP gauge. But the actual HP is removed overtime (very quickly though). This 'bleeding' time is represented by the white area draining. So if you take large amounts of damage simultaneously that impacts all your remaining HP, you'll have the 'bleeding' time to hit the potion key.

General

Balancing

Lord Marleybone and Baron Snarleybone improvements :

  • Silence bubble skill : Cooldown reduced from 11 to 9 sec.
  • Skull Heads Missiles skill : Damage raised by 30%.
  • Ticket issues with spawns are now resolved.
  • Baron Snarleybone now costs 22 DP.

Content New trap: Last week's wanted rare boss, Baron Snarleybone has been removed and replaced by a new trap: the Snowballistic Cannon!

Check out the upcoming news for more info!

Material'O'Matic: There's an updated M.o.M. in town! The new behavior is now

  • Upon purchase, it will now give you 10 Common Materials
  • The tooltip will still show you the content of the M.o.M., but clicking on it will no longer automatically collect the contents.

Clicking on the M.o.M. will now give you two choices:

  1. Collect the Materials
  2. Upgrade the Materials

The mines will no longer automatically upgrade the Materials. If you don't Upgrade them once the 24hr timer has run out, the Materials will stay in their current state

Upgrading the Materials will do 2 things:

  1. Protect the current Materials. Being attacked will simply reset the timer instead of going back 1 level
  2. Increase the amount of Rare Materials in the mine by two, removing 2 Common. It will no longer increase automatically the quality of the Materials. The odds of getting different quality is the same as when purchasing a Material pack

Bugfix
  • Resolved an issue where a Network Error was displayed when clicking "Create" clan button multiple times in quick successions.
  • Resolved an issue where the next lowest level of potions did not equip automatically when using all potions previously equipped.
  • Resolved an issue where Replays were displayed "Invalid Replay" in the middle of the duration.
  • Resolved an issue where totems could block players in narrow pathways.
  • Resolved an issue where items sold could reappear in your inventory.
  • Resolved an issue where a Network Error was displayed if you're trying to leave a clan while being removed at the same time.
  • Resolved an issue where Silencing FX was off sync with the gameplay mechanic.
  • Resolved an issue where the Leaderboards' display behavior was inconsistent when two players had the same amount of crowns.
  • Resolved an issue where in-game achievements and Steam achievements reflected two different values.
  • Resolved an issue where the defender's win ratio had a loss after defeating a hero in his castle which reached the castle heart after a resurrection.

That’s it for today. Stay tuned for more news and keep on looting!

Patch November 13, 2014 Blog Post

  • Turbo introduced

Hello Opulencians,

This week's big patch brings more content, improvements and fixes to the game. Check out the detailed list below:

New Features (sit down, relax…)

New Core Attack Experience (Turbo!)[]

Heroes
  • Movement speed raised for all heroes:
    • The Knight is now the fastest hero, followed by the Runaway.
    • The Mage and the Archer are slightly slower (they share the same speed).
  • All heroes now have passive Mana regeneration:
    • Mage and Runaway share the same passive Mana regeneration, at 5 points per second.
    • The Knight and the Archer share the same passive Mana regeneration, at 4 points per second.
  • All Heroes now regenerate Mana when they hit a target with their weapons and each weapon gives a different amount of Mana.
  • Heroes now have a slow Health regeneration over time.
  • All Heroes Health reduced by 20%.
  • New “Out of Mana” feedback around screen edges.
  • New “Out of Health” feedback around screen edges.
  • All skills and weapons have been modified to offer more reactivity and a better responsiveness.
    • Every attack is composed with a prepare, an active, and a recovery time. During the prepare and the recovery time, the Hero can't move. So we worked very hard to almost remove those durations (which was preventing you, our favorite player, from dodging that sneaky Cyclops about to punch the lovely face of your hero). In short, it's more responsive.
  • All weapons now have different trails and impact FX depending on the quality.
  • Weapon damage has been reduced by 15%.
  • New “Sprint” feature:
  • Heroes gain a short acceleration boost when starting their movement.
  • Slightly reduced heros Movement skills maximum distance.

• Heroes can now only have a maximum of 3 health potion when attacking.

Knight

  • Slightly raised HP gained per level.
  • Bigger hit zones for the weapons.

Skills:

  • New Mana cost table:

Patch 20141113 Mana cost table knight

Punt:

  • Stun duration decreased from 0.9 to 0.6 sec.

Stunning Blow:

  • No longer knocks back. Stun duration reduced from 3 to 2 sec.

Flame Coat new duration :

  • Tier 1 = 4 sec ; Tier 2 = 5 sec ; Tier 3 = 6 sec.

King Dragon Slash is now a Charge Up skill, allowing you to cancel. Hold to charge, release to trigger the skill.

Mana

  • Passive Mana Regen remains unchanged at 4 mana per sec.
  • Swords generate 7 mana per hit (from 6).
  • Axes generate 6 mana per hit (from 8).
  • Hammers remain unchanged at 10 mana per hit.

Archer

Skills:

  • New Mana cost table:

Patch 20141113 mana cost table archer

Bear Trap:

Creatures[]

  • Last week's wanted trap, the Sadistic Cannon has been removed and replaced by the new terrifying Derplicator!
    • Check out the upcoming news for more info!

Buildings[]

  • Introducing the Material-O-Matic!
    • The Material-O-Matic can be purchased in the Cornelius Emporium and will produce a pack of 10 materials each 24h period (that can be collected like a regular mine.) It cannot be removed once it is placed and is limited to one per castle.
    • For each 24h during which the pack is not collected, the pack will evolve with a better mix of Common/Exceptional/Legendary/Epic materials. There are 6 different evolutions.
    • The Material-O-Matic can also be destroyed in attack, allowing the attacker to harvest at least 2 materials. This will also makes the current pack go down by one level.

Improvements[]

User interface[]

  • The Cornelius Emporium button has been modified and moved next to the machineries buttons
  • The boost duration information has been moved lower in the boost tooltip
  • The combat text fonts have been updated for the following actions :
    • Block & Absorbed
    • Silenced
    • Confused
    • Stunned
    • Poisonned
    • Critical
    • Numerical value
  • The item quality has been added in the crafting material tooltips.

User Interface Performance[]

  • We are aware of the many slow/laggy/unresponsive User Interface issues you are experiencing and this pack provides a very large update to replace UI elements. Over the last few months we have been porting our User Interface system into new technology that will allow faster development for the dev team and far less lag for our players.
  • Items that have been fully replaced are:
  • The goal was to port these as close as possible, you will see a few minor differences (in tool tip presentation for example), minor issues (mainly in sorting and 3D object clipping) but also improvements (drag and drop working consistently and between tabs in the hero inventory along with click then click to drop) but players should see a very large speed improvement in the UI panels listed above (minor issues will be resolved in further updates).

Crafting lab[]

  • The crafting lab will now be available at level 4 instead of level 10. Users with a castle between level 4 and 10 will have their crafting lab unlocked and the linked tutorial will be automatically activated.
  • The crafting lab has new upgrade levels from 11 to 14.
  • Creatures, traps and buildings' upgrade levels have been reshuffled. It is possible that creatures that you used to be able to craft are no longer available at your current Crafting Lab level. The re-shuffling was done to have a better selection of creatures every time you unlock a new level.”
  • The changes do not affect your crafting lab level. If your pre-patch crafting level used to be 7, it will still be level 7. You might have some new creatures that you couldn’t craft before and others which you used to be able to craft, but the level did not change.”

Other[]

  • The boosted creature FX has been modified to show floating embers rather than an overpowering beam.
  • A more specific sound is now displayed when collecting tombstones.
  • Some improvements have been done on sound effects to increases differences between direct and indirect damage.
  • The limit of Mr. Squiddling that a user can purchase is now set to 1.
  • The lowest camera zoom distance has been increased.

  • Fixed a crash when clicking in the hero inventory and then on the attack mode button.
  • The pet will now correctly be refreshed in the 3D preview once it is equipped, unequipped or replaced.

  • Some mage cape and epaulet icons have been updated to be more similar to the 3D model.
  • The boost icons are now correctly displayed in the hero inventory
  • Tooltips are now correctly displayed on the items present in the buy back tab of the crafting lab.
  • When players have new items in their shops and hover a cursor on them, the count of the items highlight and the icon highlight disappear correctly.

August[]

Patch August 29, 2014 Blog Post

Hello Opulencians,

Time for a new Pack to be released! And this one's got some meat on its bones:

New Tutorial[]

The game tutorial has been completely revamped!

  • The new Tutorial should be shorter, sweeter, funnier, and overall a whole lot better than the previous one for our new Players

This change may have a minimal impact on current Player's progression :

  • If the Player's Castle Level is 5 or less, or if the player has not defeated Snottingham:
    • The Castle Level will be set back to 1.
    • All the progression will be reset to the beginning of the new Tutorial.
    • All existing Heroes will be preserved but they will start back at level 1.
    • All the equipment placed on Heroes, and every item of the Inventory will be placed in the Buy back tab.
    • All the Creatures/Traps and Barricades will be put in the Castle Inventory (Sick Creatures and Traps are not preserved).
    • If Bling Mines were placed in these Castles, Blings will be given back and Players will be allowed to place back the number of Mines they had even after the Bling Mine event ends.
  • For other Players:
    • The new Tutorial will be automatically completed, unless the Player didn’t validate his Castle past Level 5. In this case he will have to validate it first.
    • The Machineries will be replaced properly in the Treasure Room and have now a fixed position.
    • Heroes' XP from Level 1 to 5 will be adjusted to the new XP curve.
    • All Machineries levels will be capped to the new progression Levels.
  • Secret tip
    • For those of you still in the New Player Tutorial, if you choose a different hero from your last selection, we will give you your new hero AND you can keep your previous hero, just to be nice ;) So choose wisely :D

New Features[]

Treasure Room Roulette[]

  • Some restrictions apply to this additional reward:
    • Castle must not be shielded,
    • Castle must have crowns,
    • Be at least the same level as the hero and appear in the attack selection screen using matchmaking rules.
    • It isn't effective during castles validations.

Improvements[]

Same type : All crossbows will create a crossbow.

Undocumented Changes[]

Patch August 22, 2014 Blog Post

  • Anti-Farming implemented

Hello Opulencians!

Time for a new Patch Note for this week’s update! A slightly smaller one than usual, but not to worry: we just need to polish some stuff a little more before releasing it, which shouldn’t take that long. In the meantime…

Creatures[]

  • Time’s up for the Hot Roller! Wave goodbye and make way for a rare and unique new creature: General Pow!
  • General Pow is a powerful Bone Puppeteer that will turn ordinary (if that’s what you can call vicious attacking poultry..) chickens into exploding Chicken Bombs. Watch out! Available for a limited time only…

Improvements[]

Anti-Farming Exploits[]

Castles created for the purpose of farming loot or XP will no longer drop Gold, Life Force, Materials, XP or other items.

  • Why do we want to tackle the farms issue?
    • Farms skew our statistics on drop rates, negatively impacting everyone : we are trying to balance drop rates at the moment and our data is hugely affected by farms.
    • Farms take away attacks from our good Opulencian citizens!

Bug Fixes[]

The sick, high level Flameo, Terroraptor and Dragonificus Terribilis that certain players were using in lower level Castles have been fixed and are now much weaker. Long live their healthier cousins!

More information to come on the General Pow in the next news, right when the Maintenance is over!

Hotfix August 19, 2014 Blog Post

  • Hotfixes for August 14, 2014 patch

Hello Opulencians, We released a patch yesterday with a few fixes that will make Opulencia a safer, cooler place. Here's the list:

  • Castles in the attack selection screen are now displayed with the right rank information.
  • The welcome screen now places your hero in the region corresponding to your castle level.
  • Your castle miniature is now automatically updated in the welcome screen when you select a new theme.
  • We fixed a crash that could happen when harvesting tombstones
  • Castle banners in the Attack selection screen were too big, they were subsequently scaled down
  • Some Castles in the Attack selection screen were not displayed properly and were therefore realigned
  • Some Castle Themes miniatures were not displayed properly on the homepage and were rescaled

Patch August 14, 2014 Blog Post

Improvements[]

Homepage
The homepage has been revamped to put more emphasis on your castle. We've released an alpha version of displaying your castle's "estimated value" in blings. The estimated value is based on various elements such as your castle's progression, its contents based on materials and barricades, as well as visual customization and is only displayed to the castle's owner. This feature is still work-in-progress.

Castle Banners
The color of a castle's banner is now based on the castle's win ratio. Castles that frequently win have a red banner, indicating a potentially dangerous castle. Castles that are easily defeated have a green banner, whereas castles that maintain a balanced winning ratio have a yellow banner. Ubisoft-created castles always have a blue banner.

New Rare Trap
A rare trap has been added to the game, called the Hot Roller. This rare trap can be crafted using rare materials in your Crafting Lab for a limited time only. Deadlier than the notorious Hamster Wheel, the Hot Roller inflicts massive burning damage to anyone it collides with.

The notoriously rare Devlin has gone into hiding and can no longer be crafted at this time.

Crafting Materials
Materials of the same type now stack up to 999 units in your hero inventory.

Visual Improvements[]

Improved the appearance of following 3D castle miniatures:

  • Royal Opulencian
  • Spooky Keep
  • Golden Palace
  • Aged Oak
  • Spiky Spire
  • Snottingham
  • Marleybone's boss castle

Cornelius' Emporium[]

Cornelius announces new products, promotions and sales in his emporium using special tags in the shop.

Game Credits[]

The in-game credits have been updated to include our latest batch of founders, which have purchased a Double O High Roller pack during the Closed Beta. Thank you for your support.

Price Adjustments[]

We've reduced the Blings price on all Exceptional gear in the Blacksmith, excluding the limited edition "Watch_Dog" items:

  • Weapons are now 40 Currency Bling Bling
  • Chestplates are now 30 Currency Bling Bling
  • Helmets are now 15 Currency Bling Bling
  • Shoulderpads are now 15 Currency Bling Bling
  • Gloves are now 15 Currency Bling Bling
  • Capes are now 20 Currency Bling Bling
  • Necklaces are now 20 Currency Bling Bling
  • Rings are now 10 Currency Bling Bling

Balancing[]

Tombstone Farming
We've made changes to how tombstones are generated in a castle to address some cases where heroes would let themselves die repeatedly on purpose to generate many tombstones for the defender. The same hero dying repeatedly in a castle will no longer create multiple tombstones. Additionally, tombstones will only be created if the attack originates from the Attack Selection, which uses a matchmaking algorithm. The amount of tombstones a castle can hold at any given time remains at 10.

Trap Quantities in the Emporium
We've increased the amount of traps given to new players at the start of the game. The Cornelius Emporium now contains more of the following traps:

Bug Fixes[]

  • Fixed an issue where blings loot drops would display as lifeforce.
  • Fixed a display issue on health bars in the attack HUD for Boss creatures.
  • Fixed a bug where the homepage that incorrectly displayed your castle as "Easy "
  • Fixed a bug where tombstones sometimes wouldn't appear in a castle.
  • Fixed a UI bug where the screen prompting you to purchase more Blings appeared underneath a building's upgrade panel when attempting to pay for the upgrade using blings.
  • Fixed a bug where the healing Bone Pupeteer would heal barricades.
  • Fixed a crash when equipping items on a hero just bought with FreeTrial.
  • Fixed some UI bugs during the tutorial.
  • Fixed a bug with the Archer's Hawk Harass and Hawk Dive skills at rank 3, which would sometimes cause them to not function correctly.
  • Fixed a bug with the Runaway's Teen Spirit skill and the shield values per enemy defeated.
  • Fixed some issues with creature tooltips.
  • Fixed a bug where Bone Puppeteers would resurrect sick bag-of-bone creatures.

Known Issues[]

  • We're aware of an exploit that allows some players to use sick bosses that are much higher level than their castle. This issue specifically occurs with sick versions of Flameo, the Terroraptor and Dragonificus. Those three sick creatures will see their stats drastically reduced (making them obsolete) in the following days. Warning, Please adjust your defense accordingly.
  • The Runaway lost her red hair stand and her fx in the diamond packs, but this should be resolved soon.
  • Ballistic cannon continue to target the hero even if they are disabled with skill traps.
  • In the tutorial on the Hero Selection screen, the archer tooltips display an old skill.
  • Build menu shortcut is not aligned properly in windowed mode when user launches the game for the first time
  • Cornelius' voice has been turned off during the new user experience.
  • We're continuing to address tooltip issues displaying incorrect information:
    • Creature & trap damage
    • Hero stats (DPS)
    • Hero skills (cooldown/mana/damage)
  • Some long creature names may be cut in the HUD.
  • The user interface may not refresh or display everything correctly.
  • Some words are misplaced in the User Interface.
  • Lag can occur in the inventory
  • The text may become difficult to read in certain screen resolutions or certain UI panels.
  • Some creatures of the same family have the same icon.
  • Some texts are difficult to read due to font changes.
  • After removing a creature in the castle it may not immediately appear in the castle inventory. The creature will appear after restarting the game.
  • Equipping items, dyes and skills using a single click doesn't work. Please use drag & drop (click & hold).
  • The special tag for the new unlocked items doesn't appear in the crafting lab.

That is all for now. As always, we're waiting for your feedback in the comment section and on our forums.

The new skills have replaced older skills that we were not entirely satisfied with, and data showed us that most players (at varying levels) did not equip those particular skills. The skills replaced are:

  • Please note that the trap skills only work in PVP castles.

In order to unlock these skills at the same level for every hero, we've shuffled some of the skill unlocks on the different Heroes.

Following the introduction of Defense Crafting last week, we have received a ton of feedback and have a lot of game data to go through. We wanted to thank you all for that, rest assured that we are working on improving it and new updates will keep on coming regularly!

To acknowledge your first wave of feedback: In order to tackle the lack of Hero Inventory space, we will soon make each Material stackable until 999. We are looking into other solutions to address this issue too, so stay tuned!

Regarding Materials and as stated above, we have increased their drop rate in the Attack mode. Tell us what you think!

Thanks Opulencians, and keep on looting.

Patch August 1, 2014 Blog Post

Opulencians,

Today is a big day. We're about to deploy a new version of the game that is probably the biggest one we have released since our transition to Open Beta!

Defense Crafting is part of it, but not the only change. We'll publish a special news just for Defense Crafting once the maintenance is over, but in the meantime here's everything else!

Defense Crafting[]

Core Mechanics

  • Materials are used to craft creatures and traps in the new Crafting Lab, which replaces both the Summoning Portal and Research Lab. Crafting Materials are looted by attacking player-created Castles, and are in addition to item drops.
  • Materials will stack in your Hero's Inventory. To make space for these Materials, we're giving all existing players an extra Inventory page for free. New players can purchase a 2nd page for a nominal cost in Gold.
  • The Crafting Lab contains 11 ranks and is unlocked by upgrading your Castle Heart to level 10. Prior to that level, you can purchase Creatures and Traps from the Cornelius Emporium in limited quantities.
  • Materials can also be found in your own Castle: [[Tombstones will now reward you with Materials linked to the Creatures/Traps that defeated the attacking Hero.
  • Material Packs can be purchased in the Crafting Lab using Blings. Packs contain random Materials that may help to to craft Creatures :
  • The Dabbler’s Pack contains 5 random Materials, of which 4 are Common and 1 has a 60% chance of being Exceptional, a 35% chance of being Legendary, or a 5% chance of being Epic. It costs 50 px Blings.
  • The Enthusiast’s Pack contains 12 random Materials, of which 9 are Commonand 3 have each a 60% chance of being Exceptional, a 35% chance of being Legendary, or a 5% chance of being Epic. It costs 100 px Blings.
  • The Connoisseur’s Pack contains 25 random Materials, of which 18 are Common and 7 have each a 60% chance of being Exceptional, a 35% chance of being Legendary, or a 5% chance of being Epic. It costs 200 px Blings.
  • The Summoning Portal and the Research Lab have been removed, and as such:
  • Creatures and Traps levels are now linked to the level of the Castle Heart: no need to upgrade each of them manually anymore.
  • This should yield more XP from attacking player-created castles, which were less lucrative than Ubisoft-created castle.
  • All of our existing players will see their Creatures and Traps afflicted by a strong case of eternal Chickenpox. Those Creatures and Traps now have a green sickly complexion, complete with spots and nasty flies! Visit the Crafting Lab or the Cornelius Emporium to get new healthy Creatures that are immune to this disease.
  • Creatures that were purchased as part of special packs on the website will be gifted to players that purchased those packs. Immunized versions of Flameo, Dragonificus and the Double-O variant Terroraptor are available in the Inventory of players that purchased those packs.
  • Special note: regarding all those changes, existing player accounts will be impacted :
  • Castles below level 10 will see their Summoning Portal removed.
  • Castles level 10 and above will have their Summoning Portal automatically replaced with a new Crafting Lab of the appropriate level.
  • Limited quantities of Creatures & Traps are available in the Cornelius' Emporium based on your Castle's level.

Creatures[]

  • Devlin, the Fire Snotter, is available for a limited time only! This rare Creature can be crafted with rare materials and is fabled to be of great power. This rare limited-edition Creature is unlocked in the Crafting Lab rank 1.
  • New creatures can now be crafted:
  • Creatures have lost their specialization function: you will now be able to craft each specialization as separate Creatures and use them simultaneously in your Castle's Defense.
  • Creature & Trap unlock levels have been shuffled around. This means some Creatures are unlocked earlier than before, while others are unlocked later. Have a look at the Crafting Lab to see what you'll unlock at each level.
  • The new generation of creatures having the following advantages over the previous generation:
    • Crafted Creatures are twice as strong.
    • Their level is linked to the castle heart, which means whenever your castle level increases your crafted Creatures gain a level too.

Improvements[]

New Cornelius Emporium[]

  • Until your Castle reaches level 10 and you unlock the Crafting Lab, Creatures and Traps will be obtained through the Cornelius Emporium rather than the Summoning Portal.
  • Creatures & Traps will have limited quantities; some quantities will be updated every time you level up your Castle Heart.

Heroes[]

  • The amount of XP required for each level has been reduced from levels 5 to 25, meaning you'll gain levels faster than before.
  • The Archer's Hawk skills no longer share a common cooldown. You can now use multiple Hawk skills during combat. This skill tree has been renamed "Hawk Spirit".
  • Mana Cost: 35
  • Cooldown: 10s
  • Mana Cost: 35
  • Cooldown: 8s
  • Mana Cost: 12
  • Cooldown: 7s

User Interface Improvements[]

  • The Attack HUD has been completely reworked. The new HUD uses a new UI technology, meaning it uses fewer system resources, improving the performance of the game.
  • Other UI Improvements:
    • Chat window

    • Game is letterboxed (black bordered) to 16:9 widescreen ratio to allow for consistency in the display of the New UI system across all monitor resolutions.
    • New objectives are now indicated with the number of objectives that have been unlocked in the user interface.

Barricades[]

  • A new 3x1 Barricade (The big crate) has been added and is available for 95 px Blings or 20,000 px Gold.
  • 4 new decoy Barricades have been added :
    • Bag of Bones decoy (footprint 1x1)
    • Fallen Knight decoy (footprint 1x1)
    • Defend-o-Tron decoy (footprint 2x1)
    • Smelly Archer decoy (footprint 1x1)
  • Barricade's health points are now visible in their tooltip.
  • The Barricade meter is only shown when a barricade is selected. The meter now displays an informative tooltip.

New User Experience Changes[]

  • The tutorial has been updated to support changes to where we purchase Creatures.

[]

  • The cost of a Validation Ticket for your Castle has been reduced from 99 to 30 Blings.
  • Attackers that successfully validate a player's Castle will now receive 3 Blings.
  • In the case of multiple attackers validating the same Castle before any validation is complete, the attacker with the quickest time will be used as the Castle's time to beat.

Loot Visuals[]

  • The generic item drop mesh has been improved.

Inventory[]

  • Existing players will be given an additional Inventory page for free to hold their crafting Materials.
  • The second Inventory tab will be available for 100 Gold instead of 200 Blings.
    • This is to soften inventory stresses that are likely to occur while we investigate alternative solutions

More Castles Option[]

  • The "More Castles" option can now be purchased either in Blings or Gold.

Balancing[]

Heroes[]

  • Heroes now deal twice as much damage than before.
  • The Knight has received additional armor resistance and HP to help compensate against the increased damage of new Creatures.

Creatures[]

Traps[]

  • All Mines will explode more quickly, from 1s to 0.8s
    • Spike Trap: Faster interval timing from 0.5s to 0.4s
    • ppSpringboard]]: Decreased the amount of time before it triggers from 0.45s to 0.40s, and the amount of time it takes to return to its default armed state from 3.5s to 2.5s
    • Hamster Wheel: Increased the damage by 20%
    • Ballistic Cannon: Increased rate of fire by 50% and decrease damage by a 50%. Rotation speed increased as well.
    • All Rotating Cannons: Increased damage by 20%.
    • Corrosion Mine: Increased damage by 20%.
    • Haunted Gramophone: Decreased the area of effect duration from 3s to 2s.

  • Objectives refer to old Creature names.
  • Increased Z bias to make the Castle comments appear above the Castle banner.
  • Items in the Buy Back might be missing their icons.
  • Some texts are difficult to read due to font changes.

Hotfix July 10, 2014 Blog Post

Greetings Opulencians,

We had a small maintenance this morning to fix the following issues introduced in yesterday's patch:

  • Fixed the issue where Dr. Skull would heal barricades.
  • Fixed an issue where the Welcome page was not displayed correctly for several users.
  • Fixed an issue where the "Get more Blings" button would not redirect players properly.

Patch July 9, 2014 Blog Post

Greetings Opulencians,

Here are the changes brought to the game by our latest patch:

Balancing[]

Several skills in the game have been updated as part of our ongoing balancing . The biggest change is to the healing component of certain skills, which has been replaced with another defensive ability. Read on for more details about the changes to skills.

Knight:

  • Healing Strike:
    • The healing effect has been removed.
    • Now creates a shield that absorbs damage, lasting up to 8 seconds.
    • The skill is now named Shielding Strike.
  • Jab:
    • Cooldown reduced to 0.2 seconds.
    • Mana cost increased to 8.
  • Punt:
    • Changed the aiming mechanic of this skill so that it works in whatever direction the mouse cursor is facing, rather than automatically targeting the closest enemy. This lets you have more control over how you use Punt.

Mage:

  • Death Bolt:
    • Now creates a shield that absorbs damage for up to 4 seconds and weakens the attacks of the targeted creature.
  • Death Grip:
    • The healing effect has been removed.
    • Now increases your Armor by +5% per affected Creature up to 200% total.
    • The armor buff disperses when you stop casting the spell.
    • Increased the cooldown to 7 seconds.
  • Fireball:
    • The time between casting the spell and the impact of the projectile has been reduced. The area of effect is the same across all the levels of the skill. Both impact damage and damage over time affect the same area.

Staying on the topic of balancing, here are the changes to the Creatures:

Bad Dog:

  • Improved the creature's harassing capabilities
    • Added 30% Snare Resistance.
    • Movement speed increased from 4 to 5.5 meters per second.
    • Easier navigation when in large groups (seems legit, it's a pack creature!).
    • New quicker attack.
  • New “Howl” Buff
    • Increases the movement speed for every creature in a 5 meter radius for 5 seconds by 30%.
    • Buff Cooldown: 10 seconds
  • New health values:
Bad Dog Level Health
Tier 1 12 458
Tier 2 16 618
Tier 3 20 778
Tier 4 24 938
Tier 5 28 1098

Mittens:

  • Improved the creature's ability to harass the attacker
    • Added 30% Snare Resistance
    • Easier navigation in large groups
    • New quicker attack
  • New “Howl” Buff
    • Increases the movement speed of every creature in a 5 meter radius for 5 seconds by 30%
    • Increases the snare resistance of every creature in a 5 meter Radius for 5 seconds (except for Bad Dog and Bad Dog Elite) by +60%
    • Buff Cooldown: 10 seconds
  • New health values:
Mittens Level Health
Tier 1 16 860
Tier 2 20 1100
Tier 3 24 1580
Tier 4 28 1860

Crowns system[]

  • We've made changes to how often the same attacker gives crowns to the defender. As a defender, you will now gain crowns by beating the same attacker once per 24 hour period, up from 15 minutes. This addresses an exploit where some players would let themselves die intentionally in a castle to boost that player's crowns.
  • Fixed a bug that caused defenders to win Crowns from much higher level attackers who died in their castle even though the big difference in the number of Crowns between the attacker and the defender should result in no Crowns gained/lost on either side.

Barricades[]

  • Destructible barricades can be placed to hinder an attacker's passage in your castle and provide some temporary cover for your creatures. You can find barricades in the Architect's Office. More barricades will be coming soon, including a 1x3 crate variant available in either gold or blings.

Other changes and novelties[]

  • Cornelius has reorganized his store counters to make it easier for his customers to find the Castle Themes, Costumes and Pets that they desire. Visit his shop by clicking on the button in the upper left corner of the screen.
  • Reduced the occurrence of a bug that caused animated loading icons to remain stuck on the screen.
  • Upgrading your Castle buildings is now easier: open the specific building's window by clicking on the menu icons in the center-top of the screen (or by using the F1 to F6 keys) then click on the up-arrow next to the X button of the building's interface that pops-up on the left side of the screen.
  • The Watch_Dogs and Chickenwalk castles in the Competition Zone have been demolished. I wonder what construction project will spring up in their place...

Patch July 2, 2014 Blog Post

Greetings Opulencians,

The latest patch introduces the following changes to the game:

  • We changed the chat window behaviour so that it is now open by default. You can close the chat window at any time by clicking on the chat bubble.
  • Castles displayed in the Attack Selection now contain more information:
    • Recent comments left by attackers are now visible to all players, not just the defender. You can click on the player’s portrait to attack that player.
    • The hero that is most successful at beating the castle will be showcased for everyone to see.
  • You can now purchase Hero gear from the Blacksmith that are higher level than your current hero. For example, at level 10 you can purchase gear level 20. However, you’ll still have to meet the level prerequisites of that item in order to equip it onto your hero

June[]

Patch June 26, 2014 Blog Post

Greetings Opulencians,

The latest patch introduces the following changes to the game:

  • We fixed a bug that could cause the game client to crash unexpectedly.
  • The league reward screen is now displayed at each end of league event, whenever you log into the game. Promoting to a new league earns you special rewards, such as px Blings and loot bonuses.
  • We added 5 new Legendary Dyes to the Cornelius Emporium.
  • We made changes to the XP boosts in the Potion Brewery. For the same price as before, you now get a bundle of 3 XP boosts instead of 1. We’ve also added a larger bundle of 25 XP boosts available for purchase.
  • Players will now stay in game even when their computer is inactive or locked for more than 5 minutes.

Dual currency[]

Our council of wise economic wizards decided to give an electroshock to our economy by introducing the dual currency. This will give you more options on how you want to spend your gold, life force and Blings.

We’ll start this process today, by letting you spend gold OR Blings on the following:

  • Crafting and Reforging
  • Buying Exceptional-quality gear
  • Buying health potion from the brewery

In further updates, we will also apply the dual currency to some currently Blings exclusive items like XP Boost, gold and life force boost and magical finds.

Happy looting!

Patch June 17, 2014 Blog Post

Greetings Opulencians,

The latest patch introduces the following changes to the game:

  • Archer Skills: We fixed an unintentional change in the cooldown of the Archer's Roll and Spiral Shot abilities.
  • Dye Drops: Common Dyes will now drop less frequently. Exceptional and Legendary dye drop rates are unaffected. Every time you attack a player’s castle, there’s a 5% chance that a dye will drop. Dye drops are in addition to any item drops and do not impact other item drop rates.
  • We fixed several localization issues with some pets, amulets and costumes.
  • The price of Inventory pages has been reduced to 200 Currency Bling Bling per page.

Patch May 7, 2014 Blog Post

Blacksmith: Gear Crafting[]

Your local blacksmith has learnt how to transform undesirable items into usable gear. The Blacksmith building now has 4 ranks, compared to the previous 6 ranks. As you upgrade the Blacksmith, you’ll unlock the ability to work with higher quality items.

There are two new functions of the forge:

  • Craft: Crafting lets you put in multiple items of an inferior quality to craft one item of higher quality. For example, transform 6 common items into 1 magical item.
  • Reforge: Reforging allows you to take an item of the same quality and level, and rerolls the item type and stats. This is a great way to use up an item that isn’t for your Hero.

The item level of both crafted and reforged items is dependent on the level of the items used as components.

You can still purchase gear in the Blacksmith like before. These items are located under the “Items” tab.

Inventory Tab Prices[]

The introduction of gear crafting means there will be more pressure on inventory space, as you’ll likely want to keep your unwanted gear so it can be crafted into something useful. With this in mind, we’ve lowered the price of purchasing additional inventory space.

Balance Changes[]

We’ve made two changes to game balance in this update, which we think will open up some interesting attrition-based strategies. Our intention was to make all creatures play a role in dealing damage to the heroes. To achieve this, we’ve reduced the amount of health orbs an attacker will find. In addition, we’ve also changed the Fire Mine’s radius so that it remains a viable defensive tactic without insta-killing attackers at full health. The details of those changes can be read below:

  • Health Orbs now drop less frequently, down by 25%.

This means attackers will receive less health during an attack, and defenders can rely more on attrition to chip away damage from attackers.

We are bringing them closer to other mines (ex: glue, corrosive). Their blast radius goes from 2.4 meters to 1.4 meters.

Welcome Page[]

Upon logging into the game, you’ll be greeted by an interactive news page, all without leaving the comfort of your castle. Keep an eye on the contents of this page as we’ll be showcasing gear crafting. You can open the welcome page by clicking on its button near the chat window.

New Content[]

New Epic weapons are available to be looted in Opulencia.

We’ve also added some new pets and costumes, available at the Cornelius Emporium.

New Sounds[]

  • The music in Defense has been reworked with less celtic sonorities.
  • Setting up creature aggro zones now has audio feedback.
  • Camera rotations now apply a woosh sound.
  • During test attacks and castle validation the hero barks are disabled.
  • Sound when your gold & life force mines are being repaired.
  • Rage buff now applies a sound.
  • Count Snottingham no longer shares some sounds with Snotters on certain animations.
  • Captain Clubbage also has his own unique sounds on certain animations.
  • New sound for ‘Your castle won’ screen.
  • Sounds when interacting with machineries, such as selecting, rotating and picking them up.

Bug Fixes[]

  • We fixed an issue where pets were unintentionally picking up Health Orbs. Pets will continue to pick up gold, life force and loot.
  • We fixed a bug that was causing the tutorial to block if you restarted the game after quitting the treasure room of the first tutorial castle.
  • We fixed a bug that prevented you to move items around in your inventory.
  • A low level character is no longer able to destroy a mine (Gold or Life-force) with one hit.
  • We fixed a bug with Chain Lightning that allowed that spell to pass through pillars.
  • You can now preview castle themes even if your castle is empty.
  • We fixed a bug in Dragonificus Castle with Cyclops being too passive. They will now attack you.
  • We fixed a bug related to switching heroes and using an XP boost.
  • We fixed a bug that caused some players to remain stuck in a loading screen when escaping a castle.
  • We fixed a UI bug that could occur when moving a trap.
  • Many minor issues have also been fixed.

Patch March 13, 2014 Blog Post

Hello Opulencians,

Today we have deployed a new Patch in-game, and as promised there is a first round of Balancing in it! Were the infamous Zekes reworked? Is the supremacy of the Headshot specialization soon to be over?

Patch Notes[]

Balancing[]

A first round of Balancing has been done to the Creatures. This first round concerns Elite Creatures:

And…

  • Zeke’s attack “Headshot” now deals 10% less damage. The arrow speed has been slightly reduced, and Crits were removed on all levels
  • Zeke’s attack “Spread Eagle” now deals more damage, with a cooldown between arrows reduced by 0.5s on all levels

Please keep in mind that this is only the first round of Balancing we are implementing in the game. More will follow with the next Patch, and with a next one, and so on. Your feedback will, as always, be critical to us, so please keep commenting in the forums!

Known Issues[]

Here is a recap of the known issue and their current status.

Authentication Error
As stated in the previous Development Update, the Authentication Error has been fixed for 95% of our players.

If you keep encountering this error, please create a ticket!

Minimum Requirements Error
We keep on working toward optimizing the game so that it runs on as many configurations as possible.

We would like to remind our player that the “Minimum Requirement Error” message is not arbitrary: if you are encountering it, your current configuration simply cannot run the game. The game would crash if we were to let you bypass that message.

The good news is, 95% of you guys have a good enough configuration to actually run the game! The only issue is the following: you absolutely need to have updated drivers.

Please check your Video Card manufacturer’s website to check if your drivers are up-to-date - it will solve the issue for the immense majority of you!

If you keep encountering Minimum Requirements errors having updated your drivers, please create a ticket.

Issues with the Tutorial
Some of our users have encountered issues in our Tutorial. Here are the three behaviours we have identified:

If you happen to be in one of these situations, please create a ticket. We will unlock your account manually while we fix the root cause. If you want more information, click here!

Some users have also stated that they were locked in the Tutorial because they didn’t have any clear objectives to attain anymore. It is simply because you need to level up to level 4 to kill Count Snottingham to get to the next step!

If you encounter any other issue with the Tutorial, please let us know in the forums!

Castle Defense Exploit
Some of our users have found an exploit to keep their Castle from being attackable. We have found the issue and started solving it manually with existing users. It will be fixed definitely in one of our next Patches.

User Interface/Inventory Lag or Bugs Some of our users have difficulties equipping/removing certain pieces of Gear, such as the 2nd Ring. Tooltips also sometime fail to appear while hovering the mouse over an item. This is being tackled as we speak and will be fixed in our next patch.

Some of our users are also experiencing UI lags after playing for a certain amount of time, or after following a set of steps in the game. This is a rather large issue that we will keep working on in the future. Fixes will regularly come to enhance the situation, and everything will be fixed once we ultimately integrate a new User Interface system in the game.

Next week’s Patch will actually fix a memory leak issue that could generate lag when watching a lot of replays.

That’s all for now!
